Keyserver check fails for ldap based key servers
Reported by Support | December 11th, 2019 @ 01:46 PM | in 1.1 (closed)
Assigned to GPG Mail Support Plan #957. In case of ldap keyservers a search for fingerprints doesn't work and ends in a "Not Supported" error. So instead of using a fingerprint, an email address such as 0@0x00000000000000000.org could be used to query the keyserver which would simply return a not found as is the case for the current fingerprint check.
While the fake email check could be limited to only the ldap protocol, it might be also be used for any keyserver check.

since this change, it is not possible to switch to the sks key server. any switch results in "Bad key server" error message. Unwanted sideeffect is, that the sks entry is removed from the key server list.

with latest patch switching between keys.openpgp.org and sks key servers works as expected
we are still waiting for user feedback to see if the improved key server check works fine on an ldap key server as well
