use GPG Service dialog when setting a passwort for encryption
Reported by steve | October 7th, 2020 @ 06:24 PM | in 2.2 (closed)
When users are not encrypting to a public key but opt to use a password, lets adapt the password dialog from GPG Keychain key generation with the strength indicator.
Title: Set Password for encryption
Message: Set a password used for encryption. The resulting file or message can be decrypted by anybody with access to the password.
Password:
Confirm Password:
Strength:
Make sure "OK" button is greyed out, until a password has been entered in both fields.
Additional changes around GPG Services password encryption
- when setting a password for encryption: Only show red info message about passwords once the user starts entering the password in the first field
- grey out action button until the passwords in both fields do match, then enable action button
- this behavior is also adapted in GPG Keychain > Create new key dialog
- pinentry is no longer offering the option to "Store in macOS keychain" for files and messages encrypted with password
