Cannot retry or defer decryption in Mail.app after canceling pinentry dialog
Reported by Pavel Kirkovsky | February 21st, 2015 @ 02:42 AM
Summary
Selecting an encrypted email in Mail.app then canceling the pinentry dialog displays:
You aborted the decryption of the message
The message couldn't be decrypted because you cancelled the passphrase request.
The UI does not allow the user to attempt decryption again, since the email always displays the "you aborted the decryption..." notice when it's selected.
The user is forced to restart Mail.app in order to attempt decryption again. This is particularly annoying when looking through newly-received messages in the Inbox and not wishing to decrypt right away -- there's no way to retry or defer decryption.
Double-clicking the encrypted.asc attachment after canceling pinentry displays a "Verification FAILED: No signatures found" message, which is confusing and does not allow the user to attempt decryption either (is this a second bug?)
Steps to Reproduce
- Send an encrypted email to yourself
- View the email in Mail.app
- Click "Cancel" when pinentry dialog appears
