Via Tender: "no signuture was found within the selected text" when using "check signature"
Reported by Support | March 22nd, 2012 @ 11:19 AM | in 1.8 (closed)
Assigned to Tender discussion #1136. As reported in Tender:
When using the feature 'check signature' from the services context when selecting some text that has a signature, GPG reports: "no signuture was found within the selected text"
any ideas why this could be? Signing text from services works fine, example:
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 blavlllvlv -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- iQEcBAEBAgAGBQJPaluoAAoJEOCc0e5FLTeUcw0H/Rcne/uUzIM2wqIUrelpPnny rnpsFf6YrbE5zRaGyCyS7qL6WseslGgdalrgQ4IJZ6aY5RcwHprB9Mh0zBDn1JCh S7hPpA5F1vAgCZRKOXL49kiNPmlPs73TQTSJP23vsTqDK+QQ2OmP5hIvi+SyuF+X Mo0uH06THwomf2vRAi7sJRW5GHLBlf7vCU9KFVkdhIYVLPMvaKnf+KKzRs00GmcF a51YijiI/93b4Nqj0dmuo64dfS9159Tcb1bv+A0/RwbcksYWGdWgH4K0zoNl9eAB mqFpuewcrPWapscbaXpLA7Gzs0CsqdShPaCme/5qDL3KBAwWEKpyijy6TR8G+Eg= =rc2y -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

GPGPacket unArmor: is not working for clearsigned messages.
There is an additional problem for GPG Services clear-signing from a pasteboard with MacOS-line endings (e.g., Microsoft Word or some modes of text editors). The result of the clear-signing will have a mix of line endings: the endings (CR) of the original message embedded between "BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE" and "BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE" and the armored line endings (LF) in the signature. The CRs cannot be changed or else the signature will not verify.
On the other hand, CRLF and LF are not distinguished by gpg; and they can be changed without breaking signature verification.
So in addition to the GPGPacket fix, I would propose that GPG Services replace MacOS CRs with LFs when "signing a selection."
