pinentry-mac asks for passphrase even though it is available in Keychain Access
Reported by Support | May 16th, 2019 @ 01:48 AM | in 2.2.20 (closed)
Assigned to Stable #70286. Due to an error in macOS Mojave (rdar://50789571) it is possible that pinentry-mac is unable to retrieve the password from an existing keychain item and thus continuously asks for the password.
Until Apple has fixed their bug, the only thing we could do is to test for the bug being active and if so, present some informations to the user and a workaround.

Apple fixed rdar://50789571 in macOS 10.15. 10.14 remains unfixed as it seems Apple does not want to backport the fix. Nothing we can do about that. Thus setting to verified.
For 10.14 we now have a fix which prevents that the item in macOS keychain is deleted. See https://gpgtools.lighthouseapp.com/projects/66001/tickets/730
There is nothing more we can do to improve the problematic situation for users on macOS 10.14. We asked Apple about a backport but have not received a reply.
