GPG with Network Users
Reported by Steve Gare | October 11th, 2011 @ 04:44 PM | in 2.0.18 (closed)
I'm in the situation of having to role GPG out to our desktops, all out users have network mounted home directories and this is cause a few issues.
1, Unable to 'lock' files over an AFP share, lock-never isn't
really a solution.
2, gpg-agent wants to create a socket file in .gnugp.
If there are any work arounds I'd greatly appreciate them, other wise I think this is something that should be supported? and option to set the gpg-agent socket to a local location? (/tmp or similar) and maybe higher level locking? (.lock files?) as a fall back?

Thanks for the report. This issue is partly known - does #55 help?

I've not tried this since my initial report as I just made do with local profiles, but now it had become more of an issue to get roaming/portable profiles working I've done some more digging on the first part of this problem which wasn't address in the auto fix patch.
I guess first question is.. How safe is it /really/ to run with 'never-lock' on?
second is, How easy is it to implant a locking system that doesn't make 'hard links' as this doesn't work on AFP (and I'm guess some other) network file systems. -
