pinentry not accepting ´ character
Reported by steve | September 18th, 2016 @ 10:03 AM | in 2.0.30_2016.07 (closed)
Reproduce
- create a key and for password use something that has ´ in
it e.g. é
- encrypt a textsnippet with that key
- decrypt
Currently
pinentry will not accept the keypress ´. Interestingly though it will accept the same key in combination with Shift which results in `.
Expected
´ key press should be accepted like any other key.
This situation means, users with ´or á, é etc in their password will have to use clumsy workarounds. We should fix this soon. The video doesn't really show it, when pressing ´ there's no keypress detected at all which is why screen capturing shows nothing at the time ´ was pressed.

Short version: Use "Show typing" to enter things like ´ or ¨.
Could be considered a known apple bug since 2006:
