Check for gpg2 installations w/o pinentry
Reported by Alex (via GPGTools) | January 25th, 2011 @ 08:10 AM | in 2.0.19 (closed)
E.g. when the user already has gpg2 installed using brew/fink/ports. Maybe force to overwrite /usr/local/gpg2.

User must complete full uninstall first.
MacPorts gpg2 is not fit for purpose imo.

I think the user
- shouldn't must do anything to have a fully functional installation or
- he should be prompted to do s.th. explicitly (e.g. uninstalling gpg2 using ports) before the installation process starts

Others have made MacPorts and MacGPG2 co-exist. I need more
information before deciding to force many users who have not had
issues down a particular route to accommodate a very small number of
systems. My preferred approach would be to add a warning to the installer.

I guess the issue here is that the link to /usr/local/gpg2 is not replaced by the MacGPG2 installer. But let's wait for the feedback.

From experience, it's a case of damned if you do and damned if you don't.
I guarantee that if MacGPG2 did do this there would be more
complaints! It's easier to help 'power users' resolve issues caused by
them with their system than force them down a particular route.Sent from my iPhone

"damned if you do and damned if you don't"
in Philosophy that's called a classical dilemma, I think ;)
