pinentry: Trouble with new keys and password not accepted

Some users report password is not accepted for signing or when exporting secret key.
Tried to reproduce the problem on macOS 11.6.1 and 12.1RC1 with 3083n installed but so far unable to.

unable to reproduce, no additional feedback from users reporting. closing and re-opening if more reports come in.
