show dialog to extend expired keys once for already expired keys or subkeys
Reported by steve | June 24th, 2021 @ 02:48 PM
Currently
Dialog that a key is about to expire only shown prior to the expiration.
Expected
Show dialog for already expired keys which are neither revoked nor disabled. Disabled keys should be excluded since users may be unable to revoke, but intend to not use such a key so there is no need to ask about key extension.
There is still many users showing up in support with expired keys for unknown reasons (the 6 week warning prior to expiration seems to work as expected). Some took a break from OpenPGP and returned later to find their setup is unusable with no clear explanation other than "unusable key".
Thus
- show the dialog to extend an expired key also for already
expired keys. The dialog has a
don't ask again
option. Until the user checks that option we should continue to inform them about the expired state of their sec/pub key. - improve the GPG Mail dialog about
unusable key
and showextend key
dialog GPG Mail #1027
