key creation: warn users if they are about to create a second key for an email that is already in use / existing

Reported by steve | February 20th, 2019 @ 11:09 AM

One of the biggest problems, users are facing is that they accidentally create more than a single key, not understanding the consequences and issues that come with that.

To avoid this from happening, let's add a warning whenever we discover a user is trying to create a new key for an email address which already exists in a valid sec/pub key.

Title:
You are about to create a key for %@email-address although you already use this email in a valid key

We detected that you already have a valid key for %@email-address:
%@Name %@Fingerprint

Are you sure you want to create an additional key using the same email? Using the same email address in more than one key can lead to great confusion and is not recommended.

If you want to indeed create a new key for %@email-address we suggest, to first revoke that email from your existing key. Consider uploading the updated existing key to the key servers to have the change reflected there.

Do you really want to create a new key for %@ now?

Yes No (default)
