better info message when Importing a revocation certificate
Reported by steve | December 15th, 2014 @ 07:01 PM
Requirement to revoke a key using a revocation certificate is to actually have the public key in GPG Keychain.
Currently: When trying to import a rev. cert. without neither the pub nor the sec key in GPG Keychain, GPG Keychain throws a message that 1 key was dealt with.
Expected: More informative error message.
Suggested error message:
Error: You tried to import a revocation certificate without having the required public key.
To revoke a key using a revocation certificate, the public key must exist in GPG Keychain. Use a backup of the key in question or retrieve it from the public key servers, if it was previously uploaded. Then re-try importing the revocation certificate.
Besides this specific case, generally the user should never see
"1 key was dealt with". Let's replace that unspecific message with
a specific messages which tells the user which key exactly was
dealt with in which way, e.g.
The key of 'Name' 'email'
'fingerprint' could not be revoked because the public key is
missing.
So whenever we touch keys, we need to update all those error messages.
