If keys are found in clipboard the user should be prompted if they want to import them
Reported by Helmut K. C. Tessarek | December 9th, 2014 @ 07:19 PM | in 1.3 (closed)
Currently it's possible to import keys from clipboard in GPG
Keychain by activating the application and pressing CMD + V
However almost no one knows of this feature, since there's no
indication it exists.
To improve that, GPG Keychain should prompt the user and ask them
if they want to import keys from their clipboard, if keys are
available in the clipboard.
To further enhance it, it would make sense to check if the key
was already imported, and if it was, not prompt the user again.
(Might not always be good, if it's an updated key...)

Hi Helmut,
as Steve wrote, this feature exists, but it's less than obvious at the moment how to use it.
Basically if you activate GPG Keychain and press CMD + V it will import the key, if there's one in your clipboard.I'll extend the ticket description.

I was rather thinking about a menu item 'import from clipboard'. It shouldn't be too hard to add this. If I could compile it (still blocked by #305), I'd add it myself and send you a pull request.

I added a menu item 'Import from clipboard' to the Key menu to make the current capability more obvious.
https://github.com/GPGTools/GPGKeychainAccess/pull/16
I did not remove the Paste item from the Edit menu, but maybe this would be a good idea.

Hi Helmut,
just wondering, since it's not obvious from the commit.
Did you only alter the English xib file and all others were changed when compiling, or did you change all language xib files one by one? -
Helmut K. C. Tessarek December 17th, 2014 @ 04:58 PM
Hi,
I only changed it in the default (English) one, but noticed at commit that a lot of lines were actually changed. So I looked at a different xib and saw that the menu item was there as well.
Xcode seems to have added the menu item to all xib files. I was actually wondering how you guys set it up that it was doing this. -

Hello,
Is there an update on this?
Do you want me to remove the menu item from the other non-English .xib files?

Hi Helmut,
sorry for not writing back. Were busy here at the moment.
Yeah, the other xib files are automatically changed, which comes in handy but is terrible for commits. Generally xibs are terrible for commits. Thanks for the pull request, we'll merge it soon!

No worries, I was just wondering, if I messed something up and/or should change anything.
Agreed, .nib and .xib files are not good for version control, especially since every Xcode version puts its own crap in there.
