Sometimes the fingerprint is displayed in key searches and sometimes the short ID
Reported by Support | August 24th, 2013 @ 09:56 PM | in 1.2b1 (closed)
Assigned to Everything #10865. The user reported:
On searching for a key for one of my email addresses (john@harris.io) that is associated via user ID with the primary address (john@ceylonllc.com), I received an anomalous result from the key server. The first search returned key identifiers far longer than normal. I then performed the search again and obtained the expected result. I attach screenshots showing both results.
GPG Keychain Access should always only show one or the other.
Consider that the Short ID is easier to spoof, but of course
"nicer" to present.
If this depends on the key server that is being used, GKA should
detect the form that is used, and try to force the key server if
possible to return the fingerprint, so either form can be
derived.
