Retrieved Key not imported to keychain
Reported by ronin-136864 (at lighthouseapp) | February 14th, 2011 @ 04:17 AM | in 1.0 (closed)
When I search for a key using the default keyserver Keychain access seems to find the key. The key is selected and I click "Retrieve Key" and I am then presented with the error "Nothing Imported".
The Console Log states: receiveKeysWithPattern: --recv-keys
für "{(
50FE9D32
)}" fehlgeschlagen.
Keychain Access Version: 0.8.3b
When I try using another key server I get the progress bar in a window with no buttons or messages. The search never completes.

might this be related to the 32-bit issue with MacGPG2 lately?
RussM, what system are you running? 32 or 64-bit?

I am using Snow Leopard on an iMac with I5 processor. Activity Monitor states that GPG Keychain Access is "Intel (64 bit)".
Is that the info you are looking for?

Which key server are you using? Currently many servers are not working. Please try "pool.sks-keyservers.net". Any other issues you can find in the logs? What about the following command line:
gpg2 --keyserver pool.sks-keyservers.net --search-keys 0x50fe9d32

Hi,
I tried the command line command you suggested and was able to successfully import the key. However, when I try in the GUI with the same keyserver you suggested I get the same problem as before.2/16/11 6:50:11 AM GPG Keychain Access[482] receiveKeysWithPattern: --recv-keys für "{(
FF986560

As an addition. If I try to send a key to the keyserver nothing seems to happen. The console log states:
2/16/11 4:16:47 PM GPG Keychain Access[3508] sendKeysToServer: --send-key fehlgeschlagen.

I am now able to retrieve a key into my keychain. Thanks for the help.
When I right click on a key in my keychain and select "Send to Keyserver" should the user get any feedback? Nothing seems to happen

That is expected. There is no confirmation of the sucessful action. Only if you encounter errors you'll receive a msg.
It might take 1-2 days until your key then is synced to all the key-servers around the globe.

I have the same problem using the latest (downloaded right now) gpgtools. I don't think this should be marked as fixed.

I had the same issue. Problem is: GPG Keychain Access and GPGMail HAVE TO use the identical key-server address. I adjusted that using the old GPGPreferences. As soon as they were identical, it worked.
This is a valid issue, but it will be fixed as soon as Mento's new macgpgme replacement will arrive, since that uses only one place to set the keyserver information.
