replace old GPG Keychain Access dock icon with new software, when we replace old .app with new GPG Keychain.app
Reported by steve | November 19th, 2014 @ 07:46 PM | in 1.2b5 (closed)
When users run the latest installer we do replace the old keychain.app in the programs folder. We do not replace the dock icon of the old app, leaving users with a non-functional icon in their dock.
We should replace the icon with the icon of the new GPG Keychain.app. Ideally the users wouldn't even notice that something has changed. GPG Keychain would just keep working.

Change an existing GKA Dock icon, so it point's to the new GPG
Keychain.app

This does not work when
1.
- GPG Suite 2013-10-22 is installed
- user selects pre-release channel in GPGPreferences
- updates via sparkle
2.
- GPG Suite 2013-10-22 is installed
- user installs GPG Suite Beta 4
In case 2. "GPG Schlüsselbund" (if user system is german) persists in the dock and a questionmark is added over the icon.
This might be expected, please elaborate which use case should be covered.

My bad, this needs to be tested with the nightly build of GPG Keychain of course, but:
- install GPG Suite 2013-10-22
- open GPG Keychain and select to keep in dock
- install GPG Keychain (989n)
- (optional extra step) open terminal and enter "killall Finder"
Currently:
- GPG Schlüsselbund (on german systems) remains in the dock and is unfunctional
Expected:
- Icon should be connected with the renamed GPG Keychain

(from [e920fecedc604419182a91cc02fc6df2a1718f1d]) It's the right app, if it's already removed.

Verified on 10.10.1
- install GPG Suite 2013-10-22
- keep "GPG Schlüsselbund" in dock
- install GPG Keychain-1004n.dmg
The dock icon stays in it's place, but is renamed to "GPG Keychain" and does open the renamed app as expected.
- install GPG Suite 2013-10-22
- keep "GPG Schlüsselbund" in dock
- install GPG Suite-1176n.dmg
The dock icon stays in it's place, but is renamed to "GPG Keychain" and does open the renamed app as expected.
