Pinentry path is not correctly set
Reported by Luke Le | August 4th, 2013 @ 05:02 AM | in 2013 05 (closed)
At the moment the pinentry is not longer correctly set by the
GPG Suite installer.
The order of the packages might 'cause the correct pinentry path
being set, or a false
one being kept.
Pinentry path is set in MacGPG2, so if MacGPG2 is the first package
that is installed
and at the time a valid pinentry-mac path is still available - this
could happen on older installation,
when Libmacgpg was still included in every tool - that path is
kept.
Once one the tools is upgraded, the path might no longer be valid
and so the path in gpg-agent.conf
no longer works.
The workaround is to either always replace the path with
Libmacgpg pinentry-path or MacGPG2 pinentry-path,
or have a post script for the installer itself, which fixes the
path.
The post script installer might be the preferred way, since it
would handle both cases, if only MacGPG2 is installed, in which
case, the Libmacgpg framework wouldn't exist, or any other tool is
installed, but not MacGPG2 in which case the pinentry-mac inside
MacGPG2 wouldn't exist.
